ESR 1 - Aisha Bibi
Aisha holds Bachelor of Information and Communications Systems Engineering from Pakistan’s best engineering university, National University of Science and Technology (NUST). After completing her B.Sc., she worked in the telecom industry for a couple of years. She then moved to do her Masters in Photonics Integrated Circuits, Sensors and Networks under the prestigious Erasmus Mundus scholarship. For her master’s thesis, she designed and characterized an efficient Polarization Splitter Rotator with a compact footprint.
She is now pursuing her PhD in Aston Institute of Photonic Technologies (AiPT) under the supervision of Dr. Daniel Hill and Prof. David Webb in the H2020 ITN MONPLAS project. Her core research activities will be on developing a low-cost Lab on Chip based on vibrational spectroscopy to enable quick and accurate detection, identification and quantification of micro and nano plastic particles in fluids. She will have the opportunity of secondments at KTH, VUB and Renishaw to help her achieve a solid background on microfluidics and optical sensing.
