ESR 5 - Jordi Valls
Jordi Valls has a B.Sc. degree in Physics (2018) from Barcelona University and a M.Sc. degree in Photonics (2019) from Polytechnic University of Catalonia. The topic of his master thesis, done at on the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO), was “Holographic imaging of nanometer-scale phase-separation during a phase transition”, where he studied the insulator to conductor transition behaviour of nanoscale Vanadium Dioxide samples using digital image reconstruction with Fourier Transform Holography.
His role in the MONPLAS project is to develop an improved QCL-based infrared microscope for microplastics detection and an improved algorithm for its automatic detection and classification. The goals are also to improve the current state-of-the-art for microplastic detection.
